Like all the other players of Blockland, we have been affected by the release of Blockland Retail. We are split with our opinions: Law is all for progressing to Badspot's new version, while I am trying to conserve this faction as an RTB/Vanilla-based faction (woah, sounds like party politics). But now, I have a new suggestion, which, admittedly, I didn't come up with, an idea Bleh (one of the greatest developers of Blockland, if you don't know) came up with:

Leave Blockland and RTB. Badspot and the RTB developers are just trying to make lots of money out of us. Let's go and join TBG.

What's TBG? Well, until I visited Bleh's forums a few days ago I didn't know either. I listened to Badspot and avoided TBM, believing he was telling the truth. Is what appears to be apparent now is Badspot seemed to have a grudge against TBM and therefore told everyone to avoid it. In my absence, it appears those chaps have been busy. Instead of modding Blockland, they are designing a completely new game from the open source code of Vanilla to make a new game, obviously by the name of TBG, standing for "The Building Game". If we move to The Building Game, not only will we finally be completely free from Badspot and those other Communists but we will have a group of users, veteran users at that, to recruit from.

Well, there is your introduction to TBG. Have a look at the BETA versions on http://thebettermod.com/ if you want to know more. It is also open source, so if there is any nasties (if Badspot was telling the truth, which is highly unlikely), in theory we should be able to remove them.

As for Return to Blockland and Blockland Retail, you should already know about them, but if you don't, the downloads for them are here and here respectively.

QUOTE(The Better Mod Team)
Chris, aka Gobbles, has announced the following. TBM has been a mod for Blockland for over a year. I joined the dev. team back in May-ish, as a mapper. Back then things were really awesome, AiO was the most popular mod, and people were still learning about Torgue Game Engine. Everything was new, and people were having fun. Sadly though, things took a bitter turn as the creator of Blockland, Badspot, turned against TBM and banned it and it's users from posting about it on the Blockland forum. Overnight TBM's userbase literally dropped to near-nothing. RtB, the only other "building" mod out there for Vanilla blockland(besides AiO, lets leave that mod out of this) became a huge success as people flocked to it after this collapse of TBM's control on the BL users. Slowly but surely, TBM became a little more popular as "TBM 2 beta" became released. In fact, the first TBM 2.0 beta could only be described as the second most anticipated release for a BL mod. Even still, the huge warning on blockland.us saying TBM was a threat to your computer did not really make TBM 2 beta 1 a popular mod. During the next few months, many good people left the community as Badspot's passive-aggressiveness for TBM grew. For almost a year we as the TBM community had to stand and watch as our posts, builds, and general view by others was turned from respect to utter dismay. Many people turned against us and mocked us. However, over the months these people began to see the truth behind TBM and its creators/players. People like, Thermoman, Bjway Bandit, and even the RtB dev Ephi changed their beliefs about TBM. Many of these ones TBM-haters became TBM-lovers smile.gif . And today we sit, poised between a mod we love and the bitter creator of blockland. Why are we still fighting for our right to be here? Hasn't Badspot made it clear he doesn't want us? So why not just leave the community? Well, the answer is, how else can we play Blockland w/o first using a program we call "blockland.exe". The creator of this program, is, of all the cruel and evil people- Badspot. So therein lies the problem. And i have finally come up with a solution. I'm sure you all have heard about this thing called "TBG". We like to use it to describe a world w/o Badspot and blockland, a world where we can finally play a building game without limits. Now, until now, no one had successfully created this "TBG". Ephi had tried in the past, but gave up on the idea for unknown reasons. Anyways, i hope i can encourage you all at least to see that there is a future for TBG/TBM...and this is it...

Now what you see there might now suprise you. In fact it looks EXACTLY like tyhe boring old Vannila Blockland we have know ever since we started playing. Well, it is blockland, but not really. See, i compiled Torgue Game Engine, and then configured the default blockland directory to work with this new engine, and viola! We have TBG Version 0.00001 ;PAgain, all i can say is, i do not know where this is going, even if i will be the one to code this new engine, but man does it make me excited to think about it

1. I/Active TBM devs will patch up a release for TBM 2.0 and this will most likely be our last official release for anything TBM. After this there will only be TBG.

2. Once I or someone else(most likely Shadowz) have a compiled tbg that can replace blockland.exe, we will release it so you can finally get rid of that POS we call blockland.

It hasn't been released yet. Sorry if it seemed like I was suggesting it was.

RTB for now. As it is, all that's said to be different between just the normal, old, crappy BL and TBG is that it won't require anything to do with Blockland. This on it's own isn't near enough to convince me, especially since the BL before Retail (which it seems is the one that TBG is currently a duplicate of) is even worse than Retail. As it is, I'm quite happy with RTB. There's no reason for me to change just because TBG 'sounds cool' or 'seems different'. I'm not one who'll jump at mention of change simply because it's a change. I'm not going to get bored so easily with something to the point that I'll take anything different. I -might- change my vote once more information about TBG is put online, but so far, I can find absolutely no reason why anyone would want to play TBG, unless they had a horrible grudge against Badspot and Blockland or RTB and its developers and wanted to play it just to spite them -- which I would think is quite silly bluetongue.gif
