This is a follow-up to the other "Proposed Changes" thread. I'm revising the Division plan...

1) The gaming division becomes simply the gaming category. The Game Room assimilates Balamb Garden.

2) The intellectual division becomes a category, like with the gaming division. "Operation Mi'ihen" is archived.

3) Shinra dissolves. The "Shinra Building" becomes a forum for cSpace help and stuff. That forum also assimilates the Reception Desk, and will ultimately end up in another category (either the Bridge or Stuff Category). Lastly, the Shinra category will be released into the space between internets.

4) The leaders of SeeD, the leaders of Mi'ihen, and the members of Shinra, will all have an opportunity to receive new positions.

5) The current division thing will be replaced with a more Garden-ish system. SeeD will be one of those Garden-like entities, and will be the mercenary force. Others can be made if there's interest, but there will be more restraint on their numbers than before.

1.) Sounds good so far..

2.) +2.

3.) Removes power struggles. Effective as long as more leadership roles open up.

4.) What if we're not in those? /:

5.) I like this idea, bringing back the Gardens in a way. It sparked a lot of interest in members before, each working to benefit their own Garden and providing some friendly competition.

This sounds fine with me. I'm still not sure what Mi'ihen is for. O_o

The bridge would be a good place for it to be spotted. thumb.gif

Just archive it .. 'cause like um .. if you send it into the space between internets you'll blow those internets. :o

Also, like Pureblade mentioned, what if you are not in such places? :o

I have a problem with gardens due to how they weren't active after awhile. I would like to know what will happen with DoA, and possibly any other guilds/clans/whatever it is. :o

1) Sounds fine.
2) Sounds fine.
3) Sounds fine.
4) And those who are not currently leaders too, right?
5) And sounds fine.

So a light dose of fat-trimming and simplification all around?
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

I don't understand all of this mercenary business. eek7.gif

We seem to reorganize a lot.
Anyway, I'll see if I can create an intelligent-sounding response.
1. I'm assuming this is about combining all the gaming stuff. Sounds like a good idea. I'm not sure what the difference between a division and a category is, though.
2. Again, I'm not sure of the difference. I never really knew what the point of Operation Mi'ihen was, anyway, so it's archiving is fine with me. bluetongue.gif
3. If I understand this correctly, Shinra's forum would basically merge into one "administrative/community help" forum. I think that would make things easier. I would suggest the Bridge as its new home.
4. I'm pretty sure I don't have any positions. It doesn't have any effect on me, so whatever the rest of you think is fine. bluetongue.gif
5. The last Garden system attempt did not go very well, so I'm a bit apprehensive of a Gardenish system. Finally, making SeeD a mercenary force will mean I will officially no longer be a SeeD anymore, but otherwise I'm pretty indifferent about the whole mercenary idea.

I just meant that those who currently have positions will keep similar positions if they still want them. Those who don't have one right now can still get one later.

DoA, and any other guilds that would organize here, are immune to my scheming. bluetongue.gif

The only thing that might change is how the forums are ordered on the board index.

An excuse for PvP without clan politics. bluetongue.gif For some games, it's also a feasible a way to get into big PvE raids.

(Adding onto my previous reply)

"Garden" was probably a bad word for me to use. I only compared the new thing to Gardens because they're similarly independent entities.

What if the "Members' Guilds" category (the one with DoA) is broadened... It can include faction-like guilds (like DoA), but also things like our mercenary service. A member can belong to more than one.

You could also have each of the guilds represented by someone on a sort of board, where everyone can propose new ideas and events to help the guilds/gardens work together and see more activity. Not to control how they operate, but to provide a place where everyone can have their say on what they want to see happening in that section.

Just a thought. But I like where everything is headed right now.

Better yet: Why not forget the Garden-like thing, and just consider SeeD a mercenary guild? That's simpler, and would accomplish the same thing. It'll be in the same category as DoA.

In my opinion, I don't see the need for any specific groups or mercenary group at all. there's not enough players in one specific game for it to really do much. I think we should just be 100% community rather then trying to split the site in to different sections. but since I'm not really involved in the gaming part at all, I doubt I have much say.

Initially there would only be DoA and SeeD. DoA is alive and able to handle things, and some of us want to try things with the mercenary service.

It doesn't really matter how much activity we have right now. If there's leadership, both DoA and SeeD can recruit and accomplish different things at the same time. That's one reason we established Gardens before we even had ten members, which worked until everyone wanted to be a Commander and we had millions of Gardens flying around. bluetongue.gif

For new ones to be made, there would either have to be a reason for it, or it would have to be a guild like DoA.

That sounds good, there's always room for expansion later if we need it.
